Portree is a small town, yet is known as the capital of the Isle of Skye.

You will find an excellent Tourist Information office, from where you can obtain a huge selection of ideas and maps to help you plan your time on Skye. In addition to a wide selection of restaurants, food outlets and a  selection of shops, you will also find Banks, Post Office, a swimming pool and a leisure centre.

The local people are friendly and a warn welcome is given to visitors, with most of the local bars providing live music.

For many years, Skye has been a favourite with climbers who come to brave the Cullin Ridge. For the less adventurous there are numerous walks, enabling visitors to see the natural beauty that Skye has to offer. In addition wildlife abounds on the Island, where birds such as Golden and Sea Eagles, mammals from Pygmy Shrew to Wild Deer, and if lucky visitors might catch sight of otters playing on the shore
